The Barrymore

My Darling B has had a hankering for eggs benedict all week long, so we stopped at The Blue Plate, just across the street from the Barrymore theater in the Atwood-Schenck neighborhood. I had the country breakfast. Both meals were delivered to our table in what seemed like no more than a heartbeat. It was almost as if they'd been waiting for us. We both went home with our sufficiencies surensified.

I was trying to find a definition of "surensified" for my sweetie who gave me a blank stare when I used it the other day, and then proceeded to inform me that it wasn't a word. I Googled it and believe it or not your old blog from 11/06 is the ONLY link that came up! I found this very funny, because I got it from my mom and she's also from WI (Milwaukee). Perhaps it is only in use "where beer is one of the major food groups and even the Holy Water has a head on it..."?? LOL

I believe this is my first blog posting...I was driven to it by googling surensified to find cat's comment. My Mom, from Iowa, used surensified to mean satisfied, happpily satisfied...glad to know I am not the only one searching for connection to the past.

I was also trying to find surensified to see if it was a real word and how to correctly spell it when I came up with your entry. I have a 50's diner kitchen and wanted to make a sign that asks, "Has your sufficiency been surensified?" since it was a grandfatherism from when I was growing up and he still says it to this day. Since so far it has popped up from WI, IA, and now IL. I guess it is a midwest thing! We are from Chicago. Thanks a bunch!

Dear Dave
Always loved Underwood 5s since I first saw one in my teens. Centuries ago. Saw your 'cleaning up one' page and drooled with envy shortly before I felt sick as a parrot because I didn't have one. The clock is ticking so I better get a move on. There's an Underwood 5 out there with my name written on it in dust. I better go find it. Thank you for reawakening a lost love. The hunt is on.....(pop into www.typenighter.blogspot.com and sympathise with a writer who has reverted to analogue in spirit...and, hopefully, shortly in practice)
